15th August @ नई दिशा !!!!!

Independence DayDo we used to understand the meaning of independence when we were kids?
I think, it used to be a day of celebration, it used to be a day of cultural activities and it used to be a day of sweets (Ladoo specially) in school etc. and I think we never realized what independence means? But later on I realized, “the way I want to live my Life I can do” and that’s the meaning of independence atleast for me.

But after working with AID – Prayas , I got to know that I think every Indian is not independent yet . it is sounding an awkward statement but I strongly feel that .
If everyone is independent then why these small kids with innocence can not get education, even they want to study. I feel Education must be the most important aspect of their life? Before 1947 we were slave of British’s and after 60 years these kids are slave of the System. No difference atleast for these poor kids But there are a lot of rays of hope for these under privileged and I found Nayi Disha Free Education School; Sector 29 Noida is one of them .

We volunteers from AID-Prayas (Rajat, Anand, Arun, Raj, Anuradah, Neha ,Ruchi, Suruchi, Sudha, Kanan, Anuja, Monika & ME (Darshan) ) were there to celebrate the independence Day .

. There was tremendous energy among the kids. the way they were singing , the way they were dancing , the way they were giving their speech the way they have prepared the Play upon the National Heroes , it can be a inspirational success story for any society . As President of Nai Disha has told that it has completed 11 yrs of success , they have spread the primary education to the under-privileged children , and even they are managing to send kids for further education after class 5th to various school in Noida.

Kudos for everybody behind this success!!!!!!!

I feel it was the most wonderful Independence Day I have ever celebrated .we did lot of brainstorming after Nayi Disha celebration for PRAYAS future.

I hope and wish one day our PRAYAS would be doing like Nayi Disha.

Independence day celebration at Aashayen (2nd report)

15-August, What a date it is! Mere idea of being free make us feel so very proud & content. As every other thing in the world, this day too holds different meanings to different people, from a matter of celebration to just an official holiday (freedom from work, files, boss), to some it brings reminiscence of past then to some it's doesn't mean anything at all...

But we want to show this world a different view, a sheer distinct meaning of freedom.

Today in Aashayein we began the celebration with a speech on struggle for Independence, meaning & importance of it in our lives, followed by National Anthem. We distributed sweets, candies & National Flags among the children & told them the relevance of the colours & Chakra. Then we told them about some freedom fighter & later we organised a contest on the same. Children had to recollect all those names. It was fairly knowledgeable& a great fun too, sheer edutainment...

Links, which would take you to the world of dreams, simplicity & innocence....

Very Happy Independence Day... We wish you Freedom......

Independence Day celebrations at AID-Aashayen

Independence Day celebrations at AID-Aashayen

At the stroke of midnight when the whole world sleeps, India will awake to life and freedom...-Nehru
With the trust that the children of today would hold the baton of the future with confidence and ability we heralded the 60th year of Country's freedom.
The Independence Day Celebrations at AID-Aashayen was an exciting event with all the kids at Timarpur gathered in the MCD godown. All the volunteers present there made it a point to make the kids aware of the significance of the day as most of the kids knew it to be the "Jhanda Diwas" and nothing beyond so our volunteer Preeti made a small presentation of about 5 minutes telling the kids about the India's struggle for freedom and also told them the names of prominent freedom fighters. We held a quiz for the kids which was a learning experience for all of us ,while the kids struggled to memorise the names of freedom fighters and also to deal with stage fright, we the volunteers learnt to handle them with patience.Sweets and flags were distributed after the national anthem was sung.
All of us made it a point to teach the kids in every small way we could, like wrapping the candies in paper bags and insinuating the fact that eco-friendly products should be used by them or for that matter ensuring that the Indian Flag is not manhandled by them while distributing it among the kids.
